Reports from Dhaka indicate that at least 90 people, including 14 policemen, lost their lives on Sunday in intense confrontations between security forces and anti-government protesters across various regions of Bangladesh. The protesters are demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The unrest in Bangladesh began last month as student protests against a controversial job quota scheme, which have now evolved into an anti-government movement. On July 25, the MEA reported that approximately 6,700 Indian students had returned from Bangladesh due to the prevailing situation in the country.
