“The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) wants to start conspiracy before the elections.Their aim has always been to defame the Samajwadis, particularly targeting Muslims with an undemocratic and unconstitutional mindset. If a chief minister like Yogi Adityanath does not believe in democracy or the Constitution, he cannot be considered a true Yogi,” Akhilesh said.
To support his claims, Yadav cited three incidents:
1 Hathras Incident
“The first incident is Hathras, where BJP legislators and leaders sought permission for a saint’s program. However, the administration failed to ensure safety and proper arrangements, resulting in numerous deaths and injuries, with no government aid provided,” Akhilesh explained.
2 Gomti Nagar Incident
“The second incident is in Gomti Nagar, where the chief minister stated in the assembly that the list was long. The police provided a complete list, but the BJP government wants the police to act as BJP workers. When the police listed all the names, why did the chief minister only mention Yadav Muslims? The truth is known to the police. It’s heard that a Yadav named in the list was not even present in the camera footage as he went for tea, yet he was jailed. Such law violators working as BJP activists will face action when a new government comes,” Yadav said.
3 Ayodhya Incident
“The third incident is Ayodhya, where the Samajwadi Party demanded a DNA test. How can the Chief Minister amend the law of 2023 that mandates a DNA test if the punishment exceeds seven years? The police know the truth there too. Many officials are under pressure, fearing for their jobs. In Banaras, an officer under immense stress injured himself. Many are living under such pressure, unable to work freely. This discrimination is visible everywhere, and the public has lost hope in them. When hope is lost in a political party, their downfall is inevitable. They have lost badly, and the public will defeat them even worse, which is the only solution,” Akhilesh added.
In response to the controversy, a three-member BJP delegation visited the family of the gang rape survivor in Ayodhya’s Bhadrasa to assess the situation and assure them of security and support.
Government’s reaction
Cabinet minister Narendra Kashyap condemned the Samajwadi Party’s call for DNA and narco tests, describing it as shameful. He accused SP leaders of siding with the criminals rather than the victim and criticized Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav for failing to address the severity of the situation. Kashyap emphasized that the BJP government is committed to ensuring that no criminal escapes justice and that all illegal assets will be seized.
Rajya Sabha MP Sangeeta Balwant criticized the SP’s position, comparing it to Mulayam Singh’s “boys make mistakes” remark. She asserted that the BJP government is committed to ensuring justice regardless of the perpetrator’s caste or religion, with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath taking significant action in this case.
In a related development, Moid Khan, a bakery owner and SP functionary, along with his employee Raju Khan, were arrested by Ayodhya Police on Thursday for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl who worked for them as a daily wage laborer. The abuse reportedly continued for over two months, resulting in the young victim becoming pregnant.
