BHOPAL: A video of a woman scrubbing illegal firearms has led to a crackdown on an illicit pistol factory in the Morena district of Madhya Pradesh.
Action was reported from Ganeshpura village, under the Mahua police station area in Morena district. The footage, which went viral on social media, showed the woman cleaning pistols with a brush in bulk, leading authorities to investigate.
Upon verifying the authenticity of the video and identifying the suspects, police executed a raid on the suspected factory at 8 pm on Friday.
During the operation, they arrested Shakti Kapoor Sakhwar, the woman’s husband, and Biharilal, her father-in-law, as they attempted to escape with a cache of weapons.
The raid led to the haul of semi-manufactured firearms, 315 bore pistols, and 32 bore pistols, all in the possession of Shakti Kapoor.
Further inspection of the premises unveiled an array of materials and machinery used for the illegal production of weapons. This led to the arrest of both suspects and the registration of a case under the Arms Act at approximately 1 am on Saturday.
Police presented them before the Ambah court. Biharilal Sakhwar was remanded to jail, while Shakti Kapoor was placed on one-day police remand.
The police interrogated Kapoor to uncover the full extent of the illegal arms distribution network and identify any additional collaborators. Investigations are underway.
