Bengaluru girl returning from party raped by biker who gave her lift – Times of India


BENGALURU: A 21-year-old college student was allegedly sexually assaulted by a biker whom she had hitched a ride with for a drop home past Saturday midnight.
The alleged incident took place at an isolated spot in Rajeev Gandhi Nagar, HSR Layout, in southeast Bengaluru’s Sector-7. The woman was returning to her accommodation in Chandapura area, off Hosur Road, after attending a party with friends in Koramangala.
According to preliminary reports, the survivor’s friends were to drop her home in their car.However, their vehicle brushed against an autorickshaw minutes after they left Koramangala, leading to a road-rage incident. The two parties began arguing and police were called to resolve the dispute.
The woman left the scene before police could arrive. She tried to flag down several passing bikers asking for a drop. While some told her that they were not going her way, one agreed to drop her at her accommodation. Instead of dropping her at Hongasandra, he took her to an isolated place in Rajeev Gandhi Nagar, a few metres off Hosur Main Road, she claimed.

Sensing danger, she immediately pressed the SOS button on her mobile. The messages and her location were shared with her father and friends, whose numbers were saved as emergency contacts.
According to police, two of her friends rushed to the spot and found her behind a truck without her clothes. They covered her with their car cover and got her into the vehicle. They spotted an agitated man at the place without a shirt. They tried to catch him he managed to flee.
Her friends then rushed her to a private hospital in Bommasandra, where she was hospitalised. The hospital raised a medico-legal case. One of her rescuers filed a complaint with the HSR Layout police station regarding the incident.
Police have registered a case of rape under BNS Section 64. The complainant stated that the biker had attempted to sexually assault her. According to police, the woman had come from another state and is pursuing a BBA in Bengaluru. Her parents arrived in Bengaluru on Sunday.
ACP (east) Raman Gupta said the incident occurred around 1.30 am and that they have definite clues about the suspect.
