What the techie asked on Reddit
Here’s what the Reddit user who recognised himself as an IT employees, asked on the platform: This is an IT employee from india who is 23 and earns approximately 1 lakh per month. I think i earn pretty well but i still i have an inferior feeling in myself that im not doing well. This is because i see my friends doing higher studies in abroad and their stories and posts makes me jelous to be honest. Is staying in india inferior to settling in abroad . If i wish i can study well and jump to a high paying job in india and im pretty confident ill do it . Still i feel i wont get the infrastructure or the standard or living i will get in abroad .
So my question is , is it like bad or is it like im not doing good just because im in india . I dont wish to go to other countries and study leaving a good job and all other things here but the social pressure is making me feel inferior. I dont know if i put up the right words but still i would like to get a reply in all perspectives.
The reply that most Redditors agreed to
The post generated significant online discussion, with many users urging the engineer to avoid making hasty decisions based solely on social media portrayals. Some suggested focusing on career growth within India, while others encouraged exploring job opportunities abroad without necessarily pursuing further education.
However, the most-upvoted answer (so far) is only in four words. The reply that has received the most number of upvotes is: “No. Uninstall instagram instead.” This answer has received almost 400 upvotes, more than any other reply. There are several long and thorough replies too to the query. But the suggestion to uninstall Instagram has most users agreeing to.
As another user wrote in unison, “Social media is designed to give you FOMO… Jealousy is the bread and butter of Insta… Higher studies abroad do have their own benefits but they come at a significant cost.” Another user suggested, “At least you’re close to your family, and earning 1 lakh is great. Moving abroad just because of friends’ stories is not a good idea.”
