‘Trump will win if … ‘: Why ex-Obama strategist said this about US presidential elections – Times of India

Former Obama strategist David Axelrod on Sunday said that if the US presidential elections were to be held today, Republican candidate Donald Trump would win cautioning the Democrats to become “euphoric” about Kamala Harris’s narrow national lead over Trump.
“Look, she [Harris] has made extraordinary progress. We were all in Milwaukee [for the Republican National Convention] a month ago and, you know, there was euphoria there and a sense that this race was over, that they were going to win by a landslide, perhaps sweeping big majorities in the House and Senate,” Axelrod said during a CNN panel.
“But this is still a very competitive race.If the election were today, I’m not sure who would win and I think it may well be President Trump, because it’s an Electoral College fight,” he added.

In Nevada and Georgia, Harris has significantly narrowed the gap with the former president. According to the survey, Trump leads Harris by 48% to 47% in Nevada and by 50% to 46% in Georgia.
Axelrod further said that while Harris was rightly asking the Democrats to be enthusiastic, “But you have to turn that into energetic action in order to win the election. I think that’s going to be part of what you hear here,” he said.
Axelrod was a leading advocate for President Joe Biden to withdraw from the US presidential race.
