NEW DELHI: The security forces on Tuesday busted underground terrorist hideout in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri. The forces said that a large amount of daily use items including cooking gas, blankets and utensils were recovered.
Further, the security forces also uncovered a cave-like hideout in the Balotha area of Basantgarh in Udhampur district as part of an ongoing anti-terrorism operation.They recovered food items from the abandoned cave.
The search operation in Basantgarh was escalated on Monday following a terrorist attack on a joint patrol party of CRPF and police, which resulted in the death of an inspector-rank officer from the paramilitary force.
The recent killing has raised the total number of terror-related fatalities in Jammu and Kashmir this year to 74. This toll includes 21 security personnel and 35 terrorists.
Among these, six districts in the Jammu region—Doda, Kathua, Reasi, Poonch, and Rajouri—accounted for 30 deaths, including 14 security personnel and six terrorists.
