‘I am still younger than him’: Bill Clinton jokes about Trump’s age at DNC – Times of India

The former US president Bill Clinton and vice-presidential nominee Tim Walz, on the third day of the Democratic National Convention, took the center stage, endorsing Kamala Harris as the party’s candidate in the upcoming election.
Clinton, the 42nd president of the US, delivered a speech where he mocked Republican rival Donald Trump, referencing his own age in a lighthearted jab at former president Trump.
“I actually turned 78 two days ago,” Clinton said. “The only personal vanity I want to assert is that I’m still younger than Donald Trump.”

However, Clinton avoided mentioning 81-year-old President Joe Biden, who is stepping down after one term.
Earlier, Trump made Biden’s age a focal point of his election campaign, also positioned himself as a more energetic alternative to the Democratic incumbent, often highlighting 81-year-old’s moments of unsteadiness.
Despite the playful banter, Clinton’s primary focus was on the future of the Democratic Party. He offered strong support for Kamala Harris and her running mate, Tim Walz, painting Harris as a leader capable of addressing the nation’s challenges.
“Kamala Harris will work to solve problems, seize opportunities, ease our fears, and make sure that every single American, however they vote, has a chance to chase their dreams,” Clinton said.
He further praised Harris’s qualities, emphasising her vision, experience, and temperament.
“Kamala Harris is the only candidate in this race with the vision, the experience, the temperament, the will, and yes — the sheer joy — to do that on good and bad days. To be our voice,” Clinton added.
As the convention in Chicago progresses with the conclusion of Day 3, the Democratic Party continues to rally around Harris, positioning her as the leader who can carry forward their agenda and connect with the American electorate in the upcoming election.
