NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday said that they have obtained the required sanction to prosecute Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal in the excise policy case. Along with Kejriwal, AAP MLA Durgesh Pathak has also been named in the said sanction for prosecution.

The submission was made before Special Judge Kaveri Baweja, who scheduled the next hearing for August 27.CM Kejriwal’s judicial custody is set to end on that date.
On August 12, the court had given the CBI 15 days to secure the required sanctions to prosecute Kejriwal and Pathak.
Kejriwal has been in jail since March 21 and was granted bail for a short period to campaign for his party during the Lok Sabha elections held in May.
