NC-Congress alliance: Omar says most seats agreed, some still need consensus | India News – Times of India

SRINAGAR: A day after National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah announced a pre-poll alliance with Congress for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly polls, NC vice-president Omar Abdullah said on Friday that agreement for a majority of seats has been reached while consensus on some seats is yet to be formed.
Omar’s remarks came as he accompanied Sakeen Itoo to Kulgam where she filed her nomination papers.
“On some seats, both parties are stuck. However, a meeting will be held again today to discuss the issue to finalise the alliance,” he said. Omar added the party will make the list of candidates public before Aug 27 and that NC had taken the lead by filing nomination papers from Kulgam. “We have come up with a manifesto. We hope the people will elect us to serve them for the next five years,” he said
In the alliance, NC is pushing to contest more seats than Congress in Jammu and Kashmir. On Thursday, top Congress politicians Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge had met Dr Farooq Abdullah at his residence to finalise the pre-poll alliance. Omar Abdullah, Dr Abdullah’s son, was also present at the meeting.
