NEW DELHI: A non-resident Indian (NRI) was shot by two unidentified assailants at his Daburji village residence on the outskirts of Amritsar on Saturday, police reported.
Sukhchain Singh, recently back from the US was attacked in front of his wife and his two children.
Singh was intercepted by the assailants while he was going for a morning walk. They took him inside his house and demanded the registration documents of his luxury car.
An argument ensued, during which the assailants manhandled Singh, fired three shots at him and fled the location.
Two of the bullets struck Singh in the head and near the chest. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital.
The incident was captured on the CCTV camera installed at Singh’s house. In the video, Singh’s family members can be seen pleading with the assailants to let him go.
A forensic team has reached the spot and an investigation is underway, according to police.
Singh’s wife alleged, “The family of his first wife was behind the attack.”
