UP’s mammoth police exam begins: 48 Lakh vie for 60k posts | India News – Times of India



LUCKNOW: UP‘s police constable recruitment exam, billed the largest ever job test in the state’s history with 48 lakh aspirants vying for 60,244 posts, kicked off Friday without any big troubles. This is a re-exam following the cancellation of the previous test in Feb 2024 after a leak. Four more rounds of the test are slated for Aug 24, 25, 30 and 31, reports Pathikrit Chakraborty.
Nearly 21% candidates skipped the test on Friday, while 61 people were arrested for allegedly impersonating during the exams conducted at 1,174 centres across 67 districts in two shifts.Overall, 8.2 lakh students had downloaded admit cards for Friday’s test, but almost 6.5 lakh finally appeared.
DGP Prashant Kumar visited several exam centres, monitored with drones and equipped with CCTV cameras and mobile jammers to prevent unauthorised communication. To ensure a cheating-free environment, magistrates were appointed at each centre. Over 2,100 buses of UPSRTC were deployed for ferrying students to exam centres.
