BJP to Congress: Explain why your governments haven’t kept OPS promise | India News – Times of India

BJP on Sunday said that implementing UPS was a commendable and meaningful decision as PM Narendra Modi has always taken keen interest in issues concerning central govt employees and had set up the Somanathan Committee to address them.
“Modi govt makes decisions with thoughtful consideration, avoiding temporary measures. Every decision made by it is in public interest. This particular decision will benefit 23 lakh govt employees and their families,” said BJP functionary Ravi Shankar Prasad on Sunday.
Saying Congress fed people with false promises, he questioned, “Why did Congress promise the Old Pension Scheme when it was unable to implement it? Will Congress only continue to make promises, or will it also work to fulfil them?” He said Congress and Rahul Gandhi had promised OPS but later backtracked and they don’t talk about it anymore. “During the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Congress did not include a promise to implement the OPS in its manifesto. Similarly, in Telangana, Congress did not make a clear statement about implementing OPS. What kind of approach is this from Congress party?”
He said that people are asking about how long will Rahul continue to deceive the people. “Rahul should speak honestly and, if he makes promises, he should keep them,” Prasad said.
