The horror-comedy film Stree 2 has taken the industry by storm, dominating the box office. Its success continues to break records with each passing day. However, do you know there is a strong connection between Stree 2 and television’s longest-running sitcoms Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. Yes, you read it right! However, not many are aware the writer of Stree 2 is Niren Bhatt, who has written many other successful projects like Munjya, Inside Edge, Asur and Bhedia amongst others and he was also the writer of TMKOC at one point.
Niren Bhatt was the writer of the popular sitcom, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah for 8 long years and he apparently wrote close to 1000 episodes. Not just that, Niren Bhatt has penned around 35 music albums and is well-known for his contributions to numerous Gujarati and Hindi films. He noted that joining Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah as a writer was highly beneficial for him, allowing him to balance his corporate job and finances effectively.
In addition to TMKOC, Bhatt has also written for shows such as Bhai Bhaiya Aur Brother and Jeannie Aur Juju. He has also contributed episodes to Savdhaan India.
In one of his recent interviews, Niren revealed that at one point, he began to realize that, being a creative person, he wouldn’t be able to thrive in the corporate world. He felt it wasn’t the right fit for him. Recognizing that he needed to make a change, he started writing alongside his job, given the difficulties of surviving in Bombay. He wrote plays, commercial theater pieces, television scripts, and films, many of which never came to fruition. He mentioned that he was constantly seeking something that would allow him to leave his corporate job and pursue writing full-time.
Coming back to Stree 2, the film has become a massive hit, blending horror and comedy with a unique twist. The film stars an ensemble cast, including Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, and Pankaj Tripathi, who have delivered standout performances that have captivated audiences. Directed by Amar Kaushik, the film’s clever script, engaging storyline, and impeccable comedic timing have resonated with viewers, contributing to its remarkable box-office success.
