PM Modi to visit Brunei and Singapore in September; check details | India News – Times of India



NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Brunei and Singapore in early September, the official spokesperson of ministry of external affairs Randhir Jaiswal said on Friday. PM Modi’s visit to Brunei is scheduled from September 3-4 and it will mark the first-ever bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the nation, Jaiswal said during a weekly media briefing.
Jaiswal informed that PM Modi’s visit to Brunei comes at the invitation of Brunei Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.
“Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, at the invitation of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, is scheduled to visit Brunei Darussalam, during 3rd and 4th September, 2024. This will be first-ever bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Brunei,” Jaiswal said.
He further added that PM Modi’s visit to Brunei will coincide with “40th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic ties between India and Brunei.”
PM Modi after concluding his visit to Bruneir, will travel to Singapore from September 4-5. He received an invitation from his Singaporean counterpart Lawrence Wong.
“From Brunei, Prime Minister, will thereafter visit Singapore on 4th and 5th September, 2024, at the invitation of Prime Minister His Excellency Mr Lawrence Wong of Singapore. During the visit, there are several elements of the program which you will see in the press release that we will do shortly after this presser,” Jaiswal said.
The announcement of PM Modi’s visit to Singapore comes on the heels of the second India-Singapore Ministerial Dialogue (ISMR). The dialogue which was held on August 26, marked the presence of several Indian ministers, including Nirmala Sitharaman, S Jaishankar, Piyush Goyal, and Ashwini Vaishnaw.
During the dialogue, India and Singapore discussed potential collaborations in various sectors including digital, skill development, sustainability, healthcare, connectivity and advanced manufacturing.
