Watch: Vinesh Phogat visits Golden Temple, prays to Waheguru to give her ‘strength’ – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Ace wrestler Vinesh Phogat prayed to Waheguru for strength while paying respects at the Golden Temple on Friday.
As per ANI, after offering prayers at the Golden Temple, Vinesh said while speaking to reporters, “I am feeling very good after coming here. I am feeling a positive energy. I prayed to Waheguru to give me strength.”

After making it to the final of the women’s 50kg competition but coming home empty-handed, Vinesh had an unpredictable month. On August 7, Sarah Ann Hildebrandt of the United States stood between Vinesh and the gold medal.
Her disqualification prior to the final for exceeding the 50 kg weight restriction, however, was the turning point in the situation. Vinesh declared she was going to retire from wrestling a day after her devastating disqualification. A request for a shared silver medal was also presented to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
After a few postponements of the decision, the CAS rejected Vinesh’s appeal to compete for a silver medal in the women’s 50kg category at the Olympics in Paris.
Thousands of people cheered the wrestler on August 17 as if she had a medal around her neck, even though she did not receive one for her remarkable victories and hard work in the Olympics.
Thousands of people flocked to see one of the most well-known athletes in the nation in recent memory, hoping to chat and take a selfie with her. Her hometown of Bhiwani welcomed her with garlands and flowers.
Vinesh has made references to maybe having second thoughts and withdrawing her announcement of retirement.
In a statement that she posted on her social media account, Vinesh said, “Maybe under different circumstances, I could see myself playing till 2032 because the fight in me and wrestling in me will always be there.”
