Hembrom expressed dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs in the JMM, stating, “Do you not know that everyone is upset in Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) due to a few people? JMM is not JMM anymore.”
He also highlighted concerns about infiltration from Bangladesh, a pressing issue in his region, and mentioned plans to strategise with his new party to protect the interests of tribals and natives.
Meanwhile former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda also joined the BJP on Saturday. Koda’s wife, Geeta Koda, had earlier this year left Congress to join the BJP.
The event was attended by prominent BJP leaders, including Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, State BJP President Babulal Marandi, and Leader of Opposition Amar Kumar Bauri. The induction of Hembrom, known as a strong tribal leader in the Santhal Pargana region, is seen as a boost for the BJP in the state.
Hembrom’s departure from the JMM follows his vocal criticism of the party’s handling of issues like illegal mining and transportation, which had drawn the attention of the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
His move to the BJP comes shortly after JMM’s senior leader and former chief minister of Jharkhand Champai Soren also joined the saffron party, signaling potential shifts in Jharkhand’s political landscape.
