At least four killed in a shooting incident that occurred on a subway train outside Chicago on Monday, according to law enforcement officials.
Three of the victims were pronounced dead at the Forest Park station, which is an above-ground stop on the Blue Line of the Chicago Transit Authority. As per a report from AP, the fourth victim succumbed to their injuries at a medical facility.
The Forest Park police department said that the suspect initially fled the scene.However, he was later apprehended on a train operating on a separate route. Law enforcement received the call regarding the incident at approximately 5.30 am.
The Chicago Transit Authority, also known as CTA, released a statement saying, “Although this was an isolated incident, this heinous and egregious act of violence should never have occurred, none the less on a public transit train.”
The CTA also mentioned that footage from security cameras “proved to be vital” in assisting investigators with their inquiry into the incident.
