LUCKNOW: A five-year-old girl sleeping in her house in Girdharpurwa village of Uttar Pradesh‘s Bahraich district was injured in a wolf attack early Tuesday, a day after wolves killed a two-and-a-half-year-old girl and injured two women in back-to-back strikes in less than 24 hours Monday.
This was the third wolf attack in the region in the past three days. Forest department officials have caught four wolves so far.Officials said a pack of wolves has been attacking villagers, especially children, in the region. As many as nine people, including eight children, have been killed and 20 others injured in wolf attacks in the region since March.
Gonda divisional commissioner Shashi Bhushan Lal Sushil said a 100-member new team of forest personnel has been deployed in Bahraich.
