RAIPUR: A Maoist commander, carrying a bounty of Rs 25 lakh, was among the nine insurgents killed in Tuesday’s encounter on the Dantewada-Bijapur border.
Police identified him as Randhir, a senior member of ‘Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee’ (DKSZC) and a native of Andhra Pradesh. He is the second DKSZC member to be eliminated this year. The nine Maoists gunned down on Tuesday carried a cumulative bounty of Rs 59 lakh.Among them are four area committee members (ACM), two members of PLGA Company 2 and two DKZSC security guards.
Bastar inspector general of police P Sundarraj said the latest encounter and mounting casualties are certainly a big blow to the Naxalites. Randhir is the second DKSZC member to be killed in Bastar division this year after Joganna was shot dead in Narayanpur in May. t
