TDP suspends legislator after sexual harassment allegations | India News – Times of India

TIRUPATI: The TDP on Thursday suspended Satyavedu legislator Koneti Adimoolam from the party after a sexual harassment charge surfaced against him.
A woman TDP leader from Satyavedu, who is a mother of two, shot off a complaint to party supremo and AP chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, accusing the Satyavedu MLA of subjecting her to sexual harassment. She even shared secretly recorded videos and her call data to substantiate her allegations against Adimoolam.
In her letter addressed to the CM, the victim stated that Adimoolam, who switched over from YSRCP to TDP before the 2024 elections and won from Satyavedu, has been harassing her for sexual favours for quite some time.
“Though initially I tried to avoid his calls and gestures, he persisted with his attempts and used to call me late at night and send me lewd messages. On July 6 and 17, he summoned me to a private hotel in Tirupati, where he subjected me to sexual harassment,” she alleged in her complaint.

She said when her husband confronted her and questioned her about the late night calls, she broke down and told him about the sexual harassment she was being subjected to by Adimoolam. “As per his (her husband’s) advice, when the MLA once again summoned me to a private hotel in Tirupati, I took a pen camera with me, with the help of which I recorded all his acts,” she stated in her complaint.
Expressing concern about the safety of her family after exposing the legislator, she sought protection. She also demanded disciplinary action against Adimoolam.
After the videos went viral on various social media platforms on Thursday, TDP’s state chief Palla Srinivasa Rao issued a release stating that the party has taken a serious note and suspended Adimoolam from the party. The MLA hasn’t responded to the allegations.
