Two Big reasons buyers do not save much or in fact may pay more in buying iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models from abroad
So what are the reasons that there is not much savings in buying iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models from outside India. There are primarily two reasons for this:
1. Local Taxes
Unlike in India, the prices of iPhones in the US do not include taxes, as they vary from state to state. The taxes that you will have to pay on your iPhone depends on the US state you buy them in, for example in New York taxes are 7.2% in California taxes are 8% and so on. This means that the $799 and $899 price tag do not include the taxes that may go up to Rs 7,000 to Rs 8,000 in Indian currency. Anyone planning to buy iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models from the US needs to factor in these taxes as well. As for Dubai and Singapore, the prices include taxes, but as the above calculations show there is not much in fact no saving.
2. Discounts on iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus in India
It is very likely that iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models will be available at credit card and debit card discounts in India. Though so far, there are no official announcements, they are likely to range between Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 — depending on the model you want. In the US, most discounts are on carrier bundled iPhones. This means on iPhones that come with plans from local telecom service providers like AT&T and others. There are no discounts on unlocked iPhones. Carrier bundled iPhones will not work in India.
