The security forces have cordoned off the area and operations are still going on.

“Based on the intelligence inputs, a joint operation with J&K Police was launched in area Chatroo at Kishtwar.A contact was established and scout leading the patrol exchanged heavy volume of fire with the terrorists at 1530 hrs. In the ensuing firefight four army personnel have been injured. The operation is in progress,” White Knight Corps of Indian Army said.
Meanwhile, the administration has increased the security in the district.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit J&K on Saturday for an election rally, his first campaign event in the union territory after the assembly polls were announced. PM Modi is scheduled to address a BJP election rally in Doda district.
Jammu and Kashmir will vote in three phases for assembly: the first on September 18, the second on September 25, and the third on October 1, 2024.
The vote counting will be held on October 8. This is the first elections since the abrogation of Article 370.
