NEW DELHI: CBI on Saturday arrested ex-principal of RG Kar hospital and a police man in connection to the Kolkata-rape case, according to news agency PTI.
Ghosh is currently in judicial custody in a corruption case.
A policeman was also arrested in the rape and murder case, the official said.
Earlier this month, a CBI court remanded Sandip Ghosh and three others to judicial custody till September 23 in a financial irregularities case.Ghosh came under scrutiny for alleged corruption and financial misconduct at the college and hospital after a directive from a single bench of the Calcutta High Court, which instructed the CBI to investigate the matter.
On August 24, following the Calcutta high court’s orders, the CBI officially filed an FIR against Ghosh in connection with the corruption case. Additionally, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) in Kolkata suspended Ghosh’s membership amid the ongoing CBI investigation into the allegations.
