‘Trump said he was disappointed he could not finish his game’ – Times of India

Hours after the second assassination attempt on Donald Trump at Florida where he was playing golf was foiled, former president Donald Trump in the afternoon gave his version of the incident and though he was still recovering from it, he did not fail to humor his allies as he said he was disappointed to not have completed the game, New York Times reported.
“I was even and I had a birdie putt,” Donald Trump said to his friends and aides lamenting that he had been set to shoot under par.
Trump’s former White House doctor Ronny L Jackson called Trump and said Trump’s reaction was unease combined with jocularity. “He (Trump) told me he was always glad to hear from me but he was glad he didn’t need my services today,” Jackson said to NYT. Jackson treated Donald Trump’s wounded ear on July 13 when the first assassination attempt took place,
“I just told him I was glad he was OK and he said he can’t believe this happened,” Jackson added. “But he said he’s doing well and the team was doing well.”
Who were with Trump at the golf club?
Trump was playing golf with his friends and campaign donor, real estate investor Steve Witkoff when the gunshots rang out at around 1.30 pm. Trump was between the 5th and 6th holes and the Secret Service agents were travelling ahead of him. An agent spotted the barrel of a semiautomatic rifle jutting out of the bushes. The agent opened fire on the man who escaped in his car and was later caught by the police.
Fox News host Sean Hannity, Trump’s friend, received a first-hand account from Trump and Witkoff about what happened. “They heard ‘pop, pop, pop, pop’ before the Secret Service pounded on top of the former president to protect him” Hannity said. Trump was then taken to Mar-a-Lago.
