Muda ‘scam’: BJP workers detained after protesting outside Siddaramaiah’s residence | Bengaluru News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Karnataka police detained BJP workers on Wednesday as they attempted to surround chief minister Siddaramaiah‘s official residence.
The workers demanded Siddaramaiah’s resignation after the high court dismissed his plea against Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot‘s sanction to investigate him in the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land allotment scam.
Siddaramaiah has refuted calls for his resignation, with Congress alleging that the Governor’s office is being misused by the central ruling BJP.
The chief minister plans to appeal against the high court’s single judge bench order.
Siddaramaiah stated that he is being targeted because he advocates for the poor.
“They have launched political retribution against me because they can’t bear to see the pro-people schemes we have introduced. But I have unwavering faith in the law and our Constitution. Ultimately, the truth will prevail in this fight. I want the people of Karnataka to recognize the truth behind these fabricated allegations regarding the MUDA case,” said Siddaramaiah.
The BJP and JD(S) are attempting to stop the pro-poor schemes of our government. The same leaders now calling for my resignation are the ones who opposed every initiative I introduced for the poor and marginalized,” he added further.
The Karnataka high court on Tuesday dismissed Siddaramaiah’s petition challenging governor Thaawarchand Gehlot’s approval for an investigation into alleged illegalities in the MUDA allotting sites to his wife.
