PRAYAGRAJ: UP Special Task Force (STF) on Thursday arrested former principal of a Prayagraj school, Parul Solomon, in connection with paper leak of preliminary examination for recruitment of review officer/assistant review officer (RO/ARO).
STF officials said the former principal had appointed one of the accused, Arpit Vinit Yashwant, as the centre manager at the school, where the exam was conducted.Yashwant, an employee at the school’s girls wing, had leaked the question paper from the centre and sent it to other accused through a popular messaging app, officials added. He was one of the four accused arrested by STF in Lucknow in April this year.
A senior STF official told TOI: “Our team, accompanied by women cops, arrested the former principal of Bishop Johnson Girls’ School after her role in RO/ARO paper leak was ascertained . The ex-principal was arrested when she was summoned for questioning in the case. Police seized two mobiles from her.”
STF has already filed a chargesheet against 16 accused in the case. More than a dozen suspects have been arrested so far. UP Public Service Commission (UPPSC) had conducted the exam on Feb 11, which was cancelled on March 2 following reports of the question paper going viral before the test.
“Yashvant had agreed to leak the paper for a sum of Rs 5 lakh, of which he received an advance of Rs 1 lakh,” STF said earlier.
The arrested accused have been charged with cheating, forgery, and disappearance of evidence, among other offences, under IPC provisions and also under section 66D of the IT Act.
