TIRUPATI: The YSRCP, which has been squarely denying the accusations of Andhra Pradesh chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu about the use of ghee adulterated with animal fats in the preparation of the most sacred Tirupati Laddu prasadams, performed purificatory pujas and rituals at various temples across the state on Saturday. This was part of the atonement call given by YSRCP chief and former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Former TTD chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, accompanied by Tirupati MP Dr M Gurumoorthy and Tirupati deputy mayor Bhumana Abhinay Reddy, worshipped at the ancient Tataiahgunta Gangamma temple in Tirupati on Saturday morning. They sought the pardon of the Goddess for the alleged “sin” committed by AP CM by making baseless allegations over the sacred Tirupati Laddu prasadams.
Speaking to reporters later, Bhumana Karunakar Reddy stated that the accusations levelled by the CM were baseless and unfounded. He clarified that the highest amount of care and precaution was taken with regards to the preparation of all Srivari prasadams, including the world-famous Tirupati Laddus, during the YSRCP regime.
Tirupati MP Dr M Gurumoorthy recalled that it was during the YSRCP regime that numerous measures were taken up to enhance the quality of ghee procured by the TTD. “More than 1000 indigenous desi cows were brought to Tirumala to set up a Goshala to make TTD self-reliant for all its dairy needs,” Gurumoorthy underlined.
Deputy mayor Bhumana Abhinay Reddy accused the state govt of spreading lies over the sacred Laddu and hurting the sentiments of millions of devotees of Lord Venkateswara Swamy worldwide.
Meanwhile, former minister and actress RK Roja performed purificatory rituals at the Sundareswarar temple in Tamil Nadu on Saturday.
Roja expressed doubts over the sanctity of the govt-constituted SIT probe into the laddu-ghee adulteration case and stated that only a probe by an independent agency will bring out the actual truth in the case.
