Cyber Police Kashmir warns against inflammatory posts amid protests over Hezbollah leader Nasrallah’s death – Times of India

Cyber Police Kashmir issued a warning to social media users against sharing content that may incite communal or sectarian tensions in the region in the wake of recent killing of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah by Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon.
In an advisory posted on X (formerly Twitter), the Cyber Police highlighted their concern over the proliferation of inflammatory posts that threaten the longstanding communal harmony in the valley.”We urge everyone to refrain from posting or engaging in such divisive content,” the statement read.
They further warned that individuals found responsible for sharing or promoting provocative material could face strict legal consequences under relevant laws.

The advisory comes amid reports of spontaneous protests occurring in Shia-dominated areas of Srinagar and Budgam shortly after Nasrallah’s death. While these demonstrations have remained peaceful thus far, authorities are vigilant regarding the potential for social media to exacerbate tensions.
Prominent political figures have also expressed solidarity with chief of the People’s Democratic Party Mehbooba Mufti announcing on X that she would suspend her campaign for the ongoing Jammu & Kashmir assembly elections for a day in “honor of the martyrs of Lebanon and Gaza, particularly in remembrance of Nasrallah”.
BJP launched a sharp critique at Mufti for canceling her poll campaign in response to the death of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, accusing her of “votebank politics” and being “pro-militant.”
Former deputy chief minister and BJP leader Kavinder Gupta too, questioned her sympathy for Nasrallah. “What problem does Mehbooba Mufti have with the death of terrorist Nasrallah? When Hindus are killed in Bangladesh and Pakistan, there is a grave silence from them,” he said.
Hassan Nasrallah, who led Hezbollah since 1992, was known for transforming the group into a formidable military and political force in the Middle East. His death marks a significant moment in the ongoing conflict in the region, prompting heightened emotions and responses from various communities.
