NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhion his birth anniversary. In a post on X, PM Modi said, “On behalf of all countrymen, salutations to Pujya Bapu on his birth anniversary. His life and ideals based on truth, harmony, and equality will always remain an inspiration for the countrymen.”
PM Modi also visited Rajghat to honour Gandhi’s legacy in person.
Additionally, PM Modi commemorated India’s second Prime Minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri, who shares the same birth date. He said, “Respectful tribute to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birth anniversary, who dedicated his life for the soldiers, farmers, and self-respect of the country.”
Shastri, celebrated for his simplicity and integrity, is known for coining the slogan “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan,” reflecting his commitment to the nation’s soldiers and farmers. PM Modi highlighted Shastri’s dedication to the country and its people, emphasising his enduring legacy.
