NEW DELHI: Security forces engaged in a short gunfight with terrorists in the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.
The incident occurred during a joint search operation in Chatroo, which was initiated based on intelligence about the presence of terrorists in the area.
“Contact was established (with terrorists) and a few rounds have been fired from both sides,” said a police spokesperson quoted by news agency PTI.
Over the past two months, security forces have been involved in several gunfights with terrorists in different locations across Kishtwar. In one such encounter on September 13, two Army personnel, including a junior commissioned officer (JCO), lost their lives in the Naidgham area of Chatroo.
