CM Chandrababu Naidu presented ‘pattu vastrams’ (silk robes) to Lord Venkateswara at the Tirumala temple on Friday.

TIRUPATI: Chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu presented ‘pattu vastrams’ (silk robes) to Lord Venkateswara at the Tirumala temple on Friday. This marks the 14th time Naidu has presented ‘pattu vastrams’ to Lord Venkateswara Swamy on the eve of the annual Brahmotsavams in his capacity as the chief mninister of the state, setting a record for any CM in the history of Andhra Pradesh.
Naidu arrived at the hill temple accompanied by endowments minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy and TTD officials.

It is a customary practice for the chief ministers of the state to present silk robes to the presiding deity on the first day of the annual Brahmotsavams at the Tirupati temple. Continuing this tradition, Naidu arrived at the hill temple in a procession, accompanied by state endowments minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy and TTD officials. He later presented the ‘pattu vastrams’ to Lord Venkateswara inside the sanctum sanctorum.

The chief minister released TTD’s 2025 calendars and diaries at the Ranganayakula mandapam. He later participated in the Pedda Sesha vahanam for a brief period.
Meanwhile, the pilgrim footfall in the hill town was normal on the first day of the 9-day annual Brahmotsavams, with more police personnel and TTD staff present than visiting devotees. TTD EO J Syamala Rao and officials participated in the CM’s programme to Tirumala on Friday.
Dwajapatam’ procession held at the Tirumala temple
The annual Brahmotsavams at Tirumala started on Friday with the conduct of Dwajarohanam ritual inside the Tirumala temple.
The sacred yellow cloth ‘Dwajapatam’ with the imprint of Lord Garuda, followed by the processional deities of Lord Malayapa Swamy and His two consorts, goddesses Sridevi and Bhudevi, were carried in a procession along the four mada streets encircling the Tirumala temple to herald the beginning of the nine day pageantry.
The procession was followed by ‘Dwajarohanam’, which involved hoisting the ‘Dwajapatam’ on ‘Dwajasthambham’ (flag post) amidst chanting of vedic hymns.
