NEW DELHI: India conducted three successful tests of its man-portable air defence missile system, which can intercept and destroy hostile aircraft, drones and helicopters at ranges up to 6 km.
The flight-tests of the miniaturised fourth-generation VSHORADS (very short-range air defence system) missiles were conducted by DRDO from a ground-based portable launcher at the Pokhran field firing ranges in Rajathan Thursday and Friday.
“The tests were carried out against high speed targets, demonstrating very critical parameters of maximum range and maximum altitude interception,” a DRDO official said.
