A Reddit user’s post claiming he got Apple iPhone 16 for just Rs 27,000 has gone viral on the internet. To support his claim, the user shared a screenshot of the purchase receipt, showing how the individual paid Rs 26,970 for the 256GB variant of iPhone 16 with his credit card, while the remaining amount was covered by reward points accumulated on the card.The remaining Rs 62,930 was paid by credit card points, as per the screenshot.

For those unaware, Apple recently launched its iPhone 16 series consisting of four models – iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. The base variant of iPhone 16 comes with 128GB storage and has a price tag of Rs 79,900. While the 256GB variant costs Rs 89,900.

The Redditor claimed to use HDFC Infinia credit card for the purchase. Sharing the post on Reddit, the user said “Thanks to the reward points. I now regret using this card for some of my big spends.”
When a user asked why the individual regretted using the card for iPhone 16 purchase, he replied, “I used Amazon pay card for jewellery purchases just for 1% cashback thinking Infinia won’t give any points on jewellery but it actually does.” Another user replied to the post “Approx how much did you do to accumulate 62930 Points?”. To which, the user replied, “About 15 Lakh.”
“I am having 50k regalia points but I can’t find the option to use points for iPhone 13,” commented a third. “It makes me feel how little I know about credit cards and I was so dumb assuming that credit cards are scams,” said a fourth.
