NEW DELHI: The early trends of Haryana assembly elections on Tuesday showed a neck and neck fight between Bharatiya Janata party and Congress. While, BJP is leading in Haryana, Congress and National Conference alliance has maintained its lead in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Bharatiya Janata Party is aiming to secure the third consecutive term with Nayab Singh Saini as the chief minister face in the state.Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the campaigning, banking on its “double-engine” government.
The Congress party in Haryana, spearheaded by leaders like Rahul Gandhi and Bhupinder Singh Hooda, is striving to make a comeback after a decade-long hiatus. The grand old party’s campaign focused on issues such as unemployment, agrarian distress, and law and order.

  • Congress veteran Bhupinder Singh Hooda is leading from the seat by 11,000 votes, according to early trends.
  • Wrestler-turned-politician Vinesh Phogat who is contesting on Congress ticket is leading in Julana Constituency, as per early trends.
  • India’s richest woman and former minister Savitri Jindal is leading from Hisar constituency against incumbent BJP MLA Kamal Gupta in the early trends.
  • Chief minister Nayab Singh Saini is leading from Ladwa

J&K

  • Omar Abdullah is leading from Budgam and Gander and Ganderbal.
  • BJP chief Ravinder Raina is trailing from Naushera constituency in the early trends.

What exit polls predicted in Haryana?
Exit polls predicted that the Congress will be sweeping back into power in Haryana after a gap of 10 years. The party will be winning around 55 seats, the BJP 27 seats, INLD 2 seats, JJP 1 seat and others around 5 seats. As per pollster Matrize, Congress is expected to win 55-62 seats, BJP 18-24, INLD 3-6, JJP 0-3 and others 2-5 seats. Peoples Pulse has predicted that the Congress will secure around 49-61 seats, BJP 20-32, INLD 2-3, JJP 0-1 and others 3-5 seats.
What exit polls predicted in Jammu and Kashmir?
Exit polls for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly election predicted that the Congress-National Conference alliance may win around 43 seats, 3 short of the majority, while the BJP may win 27 seats, PDP 7 and others 13.
