Mani Ratnam, Rishab Shetty, AR Rahman, Nithya Menen, and other South stars receive their National Award from President Draupadi Murmu – Times of India

National Film Awards has celebrated the finest achievements in Indian cinema across various languages and categories. The 70th National Film Awards ceremony happened today (Oct 8), and the winners received their honor from the Indian President Draupadi Murmu. Key winners included Mani Ratnam, Rishab Shetty, AR Rahman, Nithya Menen, Arivumani, and others. ‘KGF 2‘ took home the Best Feature Film Kannada award, while the Malayalam film ‘Aattam’ won the Best Film award.The ceremony emphasized the diversity of regional films and honored exceptional talent across various technical categories, showcasing the richness of Indian filmmaking. It’s a memorable event for cinephiles as stars across the industries gather under one roof to have a friendly interaction.
Stars valued their tradition as they appeared for the event in traditional attires. Rishab Shetty stole the show with his magnetic appearance in a silky traditional shirt and veshti to receive the Best Actor award for ‘Kantara’, and he graced the event along with his wife Pragathi Shetty to receive the prestigious award. Nithya Menen appeared in a gorgeous white saree as she received the first-ever National Award for Best Actress for her role in ‘Thiruchitrambalam’.
The Swarna Kamal (Golden Lotus) award comes with a cash prize of Rs 3 lakh, while winners of the Rajat Kamal (Silver Lotus) award receive ₹2 lakh in all categories. Today (Oct 8), the winners of the 70th National Film Awards were celebrated in a grand ceremony held in New Delhi.
