NEW DELHI: The average out-of-pocket medical expenditure per household on hospitalisation during the past 365 days in rural and urban areas has been estimated at Rs 4,129 and Rs 5,290, results of a govt survey showed on Wednesday.
The statistics ministry’s comprehensive annual modular survey (July 2022-June 2023) showed that the average out-of-pocket medical expenditure per household on non-hospitalisation treatments during the last 30 days in rural and urban areas are Rs 539 & Rs 606, respectively.
The survey also showed that approximately 96.9% of those in the 15-24 years age group were able to read and write simple statements and able to perform simple arithmetic calculations. In the same age group, the figure was around 97.8% for males and 95.9% for females
It also showed that 23.3% of those in the 15-24 age group were not in education, employment or training on the date of the survey, while in the 15-29 group it was 25.6% The survey also showed that 95.1% of households had a telephone or mobile connection while 9.9% had computers. About 95.7% of those in 15-24 years age bracket in rural areas can use mobile phones, in urban areas it was 97%.
