NEW DELHI: Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir‘s Anantnag district have recovered the body of missing soldier of the territorial army, Hilal Ahmad Bhat.
The officials reported that Bhat’s body, which had been riddled with bullets, was found in the Sanglan forest area of Utrasoo, Anantnag. The body was transported to a hospital for necessary medical procedures.
“The body of the Territorial Army jawan abducted by terrorists in the Anantnag area has been recovered with gunshot wounds.The soldier had been reported missing since yesterday and search operations were on by the security forces there,” news agency ANI reported quoting sources.
Following Bhat’s disappearance on Tuesday from Shah, security forces had launched an extensive search operation to locate him.
The Srinagar-based Chinar Corps of the Army shared on X, “Based on intelligence input, a joint counter terrorist operation was launched by #IndianArmy alongwith @JmuKmrPolice & other agencies in Kazwan Forest #Kokernag on 08 Oct 24. Operation continued overnight as one soldier of Territorial Army was reported missing.”
Two Territorial Army soldiers were allegedly abducted by terrorists in the forest area of Anantnag. While one of the soldiers managed to escape, the other remained missing, prompting security forces to launch a search operation in the area.
In a separate incident on October 5, the Indian Army reported that two terrorists were neutralized and a significant amount of “warlike stores” were seized following a joint anti-terrorist operation in the Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. The operation, which began on October 4, was a collaborative effort between the Army, BSF, and Jammu and Kashmir Police in the Keran sector of Kupwara district.
The operation was initiated after security personnel received specific information on October 3 about the potential infiltration of terrorists through the Keran Sector.
