NEW DELHI: A member of the Samajwadi Party chained himself and staged a demonstration in front of the home of Akhilesh Yadav, the party’s leader on Friday morning.
Supporters of the Samajwadi Party in Lucknow are protesting against the Uttar Pradesh government for allegedly obstructing the main entrance of the Jayaprakash Narayan International Centre with tin sheets, seemingly to hinder Akhilesh Yadav’s entry.
Akhilesh Yadav is scheduled to visit JPNIC in Gomti Nagar today, on the birth anniversary of Jayaprakash Narayan.
As a precautionary measure, police has set up barricades outside Yadav’s residence, while the Jai Prakash Narayan International Centre (JPNIC) has been closed off and barricaded.
Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav also slammed the UP government, alleging that the BJP is against freedom fighters and the freedom movement.
“The BJP has always been against the freedom fighters and the freedom movement. They have learnt how to block the path by living with the colonial powers and supporting them secretly. Everyone says today, we don’t want BJP,” Akhilesh wrote on X.
