Google CEO Sundar Pichai has confirmed that the company will vigorously appeal a recent antitrust ruling against it. In an interview with Bloomberg, Pichai expressed his disagreement with the judge’s decision and outlined the company’s plans for a prolonged legal battle. This is the said to be the first times that Google CEO Sundar Pichai spoke publicly about the company’s search engine antitrust case since Department of Justice prosecutors submitted their proposed remedies.
“With our scale and size, I think scrutiny is inevitable,” Pichai told host David Rubenstein.
‘Google is the world’s best search engine, and our rivals too accept that’
The ruling, which labeled Google a “monopolist,” has been a significant setback for the tech giant. However, Pichai emphasised that Google’s success is a result of innovation and that competitors recognize its dominance in the search engine market.
“We’re still in the middle of the remedies phase, and we will appeal, and this process will likely take many years,” Pichai said.
Despite the ruling, Google intends to continue its operations as usual. The company will be closely monitoring the ongoing remedies phase and will submit its own proposals to the court.
The antitrust case against Google has drawn significant attention from both the tech industry and the broader public. It is seen as a landmark case that could have far-reaching implications for other tech giants.
