VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh govt has transferred to CID a probe into attacks on TDP‘s headquarters and residence of CM N Chandrababu Naidu in 2021 when he was in the opposition. Alleged functionaries of YSRCP, led by then CM Jagan Mohan Reddy, were accused of carrying out the attacks.
The case has been handed to CID following a view within the Naidu-led administration that the investigation so far by local cops was tardy, sources said.CID will formally take up the case on Monday.
The attack on TDP headquarters on Oct 19, 2021, allegedly involved several prominent YSRCP netas and their followers. Former YSRCP MP Nandigam Suresh was arrested and sent to jail in the case but released on bail. Police plan to interrogate several other functionaries too.
In the attack on Naidu’s residence the same day, former YSRCP minister Jogi Ramesh was named prime suspect. He was summoned multiple times for questioning but didn’t co-operate. This is a key reason for the case shift to CID.
