VIJAYAPURA: The hero’s welcome in Karnataka’s Vijayapura for the two men accused of killing journalist Gauri Lankesh, who were granted bail after seven years in jail, has gone viral.
Sri Ram Sene functionaries Umesh Vandal and Neelakanth Kandagal felicitated Parashuram Waghmore and Manohar Yadawe after their release on Friday, two days after they were granted bail.
“They were not involved in the murder, but they were kept behind bars for seven years. Congress govt often targets Hindu workers. We welcomed Waghmore and Yadawe to extend moral support to them,” said Sri Ram Sene, whose members raised slogans in favour of Sanatan Dharma and Bharat Mata. Waghmore and Yadawe performed puja at Kalikadevi Temple and later garlanded a statue of Shivaji. They refused to speak to the media.
After the felicitation, Waghmore and Yadawe left for their respective homes.
