NEW DELHI: The stage is set for Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s electoral debut, with EC scheduling the bypoll to Kerala‘s Wayanad Lok Sabha seat vacated by LoP Rahul Gandhi for November 13.
Rahul had on June 17 announced that he will retain Rae Bareli seat in Uttar Pradesh, and vacate Wayanad that he represented from 2019-24, and won again in 2024 polls. The party had announced that Priyanka would contest to replace Rahul in Wayanad.Since then, politics took a back seat in Wayanad after it witnessed massive landslides following torrential rains on July 30, claiming over 230 lives.
After her name was announced for Wayanad bypoll, Priyanka had said, “I am not nervous at all…. I am happy to be able to represent Wayanad. All I will say is that I will not let them feel Rahul’s absence.”
