A bullet-riddled body of a non-local man was recovered on Friday from the Wachi area of Zainapora in Jammu and Kashmir‘s Shopian district, officials said. The body, found in south Kashmir, bore multiple gunshot wounds, raising concerns over the security situation in the region.
Officials confirmed that the body has been moved to a nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities, and an investigation is currently underway to determine the identity of the deceased and the circumstances leading to the death.
In a separate operation earlier in the day, the Indian Army‘s Romeo Force, in collaboration with the SOG of Poonch Police, apprehended a terror-linked individual in the Dundak area of the Surankot Sector in Poonch district. Four grenades were recovered from the suspect, who is believed to be connected to the last two to three grenade attacks in Poonch City and Surankot. Authorities hope this arrest will help trace additional terror links in the region.
Further investigations are ongoing in both cases.
