NEW DELHI: Eight flights to and from Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi received bomb threats on social media on Saturday. An airport official said after thorough checking, nothing suspicious was found.
An official at IGI Airport said bomb threats via X were received for six flights originating from Delhi and two Delhi-bound flights. Of the total flights, six were international and two were domestic.
“After bomb threats were received, most of the flights had already landed at Delhi airport.No flight made an emergency landing at Delhi airport on Saturday. The standard operating procedure was followed, and thorough security checks were conducted,” said an airport official.
Among the flights that received threats on Saturday were two IndiGo flights. An IndiGo spokesperson said, “Flight 6E 184, operating from Jodhpur to Delhi, received a security-related alert. The aircraft landed in Delhi, and customers disembarked. We are coordinating with the security agencies as per procedure. Ensuring the safety and security of our customers and crew remains paramount in all facets of our operations. We sincerely regret any inconvenience this situation may have caused our customers and appreciate their understanding.”
The spokesperson said Flight 6E 11, operating from Delhi to Istanbul, received a security-related alert. “The customers were safely disembarked. At IndiGo, the safety and security of our customers and crew remain paramount in all facets of our operations. We worked closely with the relevant authorities, and standard operating procedures were followed. We sincerely regret any inconvenience this situation may have caused our customers and appreciate their understanding,” said the IndiGo spokesperson.
On Wednesday, three airlines reported bomb threats targeting their flights, which turned out to be hoaxes.
