Azim Premji and his family claimed the 9th spot in the top 10 richest Indians list with a wealth of Rs 1,90,700 crore.

India’s billionaire population has surged, adding one every five days in the last year, according to the Hurun India Rich List 2024. The country now boasts a total of 334 billionaires. The report details their wealth, businesses, and where they live. Previously, we focused on the wealthiest individuals in Gurugram; now, let’s turn our attention to Bengaluru and its top 5 richest residents.

5 Richest people in Bengaluru

Azim Premji– Software and services
The first in the list is tech tycoon Azim Premji, who is the only Bengaluru resident in the top 10 of the list. The wealth of the former chairman of Wipro increased by 24%, maintaining 9th spot in the list with Rs 1,90,700 crore to his name.
Irfan Razack – Real Estate
On the 51st spot is Irfan Razack who registered a 178% rise in wealth and currently has a wealth of Rs 43,600 crore. He is the Chairman and Managing Director of Prestige Group, one of the most reputed property developers in the country.
Nithin Kamath – Financial Services
Zerodha CEO Nithin Kamath is placed at 57th spot with a wealth of Rs 41,000 crore. His wealth changed by 16%.
S Gopalakrishnan – Software and Services
At the 62nd spot is S Gopalakrishnan – one of the co-founders of Infosys. He served as the company’s CEO and managing director from 2007 to 2011, and vice chairman from 2011 to 2014. His wealth increased by 24% and is at Rs 38,500 crore.
NR Narayana Murthy – Software and Services
Another co-founder of Infosys – NR Narayana Murthy – takes the 69th spot with Rs 36,600 crore to his name. Murthy was the CEO of Infosys for 21 years from 1981 to 2002.
Other Bengaluru-based wealthy people who made it to top 100
With Rs 36,300 crore to his name, GM Rao takes up the 71st spot. He is the founder chairman of GMR Group, and has his wealth creased 112%.
On the 74th spot is Ranjan Pai with a wealth of Rs 34,700 crore. He is a doctor, businessperson and the chairman of the Manipal Education and Medical Group.
Lastly, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw takes up the 98th spot with Rs 29,000 crore to her name. She is the executive chairperson and founder of Biocon, a biotechnology company based in Bangalore.
