NEW DELHI: Indian men’s cricket team captain Rohit Sharma on Tuesday found himself in a heartwarming moment with a fangirl ahead of the second Test against New Zealand at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune.
The interaction, captured in a viral video, has charmed fans across social media.
In the video, the young fangirl approaches Rohit, asking him for an autograph, which the skipper gladly provides.
During their brief conversation, the girl admits that she came from a long distance and was feeling hungry.
However, what really caught Rohit off-guard was her playful request: “Virat bhai ko bolna bohot badi fan ayi thi” (Tell Virat bhai that a huge fan had come).
Rohit responded with a smile, reassuring her that he would convey the message to Virat Kohli.

While the fan enjoyed this cheerful moment, Team India is focused on levelling the ongoing Test series against New Zealand after a loss in the first Test.
Despite wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant suffering a knee injury during the opening match, assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate remains optimistic about his participation in the second Test starting Thursday in Pune.
Pant had made a courageous 99 in the second innings of the first Test, helping India recover after being bowled out for just 46 in the first innings.

The knock came in partnership with Sarfaraz Khan, who scored his maiden Test century with 150 runs.
However, Pant injured the same knee that was previously operated on following a severe car crash in 2022.
India face a selection dilemma, as Shubman Gill is set to return while KL Rahul struggles with form. Meanwhile, New Zealand will be without their star batsman Kane Williamson, who is sidelined with a groin injury.
