NEW DELHI: NIA has announced a Rs 10 lakh reward for any information leading to the arrest of Anmol Bishnoi, the Canada-based younger brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and a wanted accused in many cases relating to the nexus among criminal gangs, narcotics traffickers, and terrorists.
Anmol is wanted by NIA for his alleged involvement in a firing incident outside actor Salman Khan’s residence in Mumbai in April as well as the recent murder of former NCP MLA Baba Siddique in Mumbai.
Anmol, along with his brothers Lawrence and Sachin and associates such as Goldy Brar, Kala Jathedi and others, was purportedly raising funds to carry out terror or criminal activities through smuggling of drugs and weapons, and widespread extortions, NIA sources said. He is known to manage the activities of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang from Canada.
Sources said last month, a Rs 10 lakh bounty was announced for information leading to Anmol’s arrest.
A Mumbai court had recently denied bail to one of the two accused involved in the firing incident outside Salman’s residence, saying they did so with the “intention or knowledge” to kill him on Anmol’s instigation.
Anmol and Lawrence, who hail from Fazilka in Punjab, are wanted accused in the case. Lawrence is lodged in a jail in Sabarmati in Gujarat. A look out circular was also issued in April against Anmol, who had claimed responsibility for the firing incident outside Salman’s residence.
An FIR was also registered in Aug 2022 by NIA against nine accused, including Lawrence and Anmol, for being part of a conspiracy to “raise funds, recruit youth to carry out terrorist acts in the Union territory of Delhi and other parts of the country” besides “targeted killings of prominent persons”.
