At least 35 people were injured, including six in critical condition, after a truck rammed into a bus stop in central Israel on Sunday. Police suspect the accident was a terror attack.
The incident took place outside the IDF’s Glilot Base in central Israel. The armed civilians have shot down the truck driver and “neutralized”.
According to the police’s initial probe, a bus had stopped at the station outside the base to drop off passengers. At the same time, a truck rammed into the stop and the people there, Times of Israel reported.
It says further details, including the motive, are under investigation.
Magen David Adom, Israel’s national emergency medical, said that they are treating dozens of people wounded in the truck-ramming incident at the Glilot Junction.
“At 10:08 am (0808 GMT), a report was received… of a truck hitting a bus stop on Aharon Yariv Boulevard in Ramat Hasharon… Paramedics are currently providing medical treatment on site to dozens of casualties,” the Magen David Adom service said in a statement.
Magen David Adom said that there are six people, who are in serious condition, five in moderate condition, 20 who are lightly hurt, and another four suffering acute anxiety.
The incident took place just a day after Israel launched strikes on Iran, as a response to the October 1 attack.
Multiple powerful explosions were heard in Tehran, and the neighboring city of Karaj, according to reports. The Israeli military said that the strikes are in response to “relentless attacks” from Iran and its proxies since October 7, adding that it has the “right and the duty to respond.”
