VIJAYAWADA: Iskcon temple in Tirupati received a bomb threat via email on Sunday, prompting heightened security measures and a comprehensive search operation by the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) and dog squad. Despite the threat, which claimed that “Pakistan’s ISI-related terrorists would blow up the temple”, no explosives or suspicious items were discovered on the temple grounds. Police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
This threat comes just a day after two well-known hotels in Tirupati were subjected to similar hoax bomb threats on Saturday. Police conducted extensive searches with the help of BDS and sniffer dogs, ultimately confirming that the threats were unfounded.
The email threat made reference to Jaffer Sadiq, an alleged drug trafficking network kingpin who was recently arrested in Tamil Nadu by the Narcotics Control Bureau and the Enforcement Directorate.
In addition to the recent threats, three other hotels in Tirupati had previously received bomb threats, which were also determined to be hoaxes following thorough searches by security forces.
